The Impact of Hit-and-Run Crashes in Texas
Hit-and-run accidents are particularly dangerous because victims often experience delays in receiving critical medical care. Texas reports thousands of hit-and-run incidents each year, many of which result in severe injuries or fatalities. Pedestrians are especially vulnerable in these crashes, as they lack the protection that vehicle occupants have in a collision.
Leaving the scene of an accident involving injury is a felony in Texas, and drivers who flee can face serious legal consequences. Victims of hit-and-run crashes often struggle with medical expenses, emotional trauma, and challenges in seeking justice. When a driver is caught, victims may have legal options to recover damages for their injuries and losses.
Pedestrians and motorists alike must remain vigilant at intersections and follow traffic laws to prevent these tragic incidents. Drivers should always stop and render aid if involved in a crash, as Texas law requires.
