Clearfield, UT (October 17, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred on Southbound I-15 in Clearfield, resulting in the death of a 35-year-old man. According to the Utah Highway Patrol (UHP), the incident took place when the man was reportedly attempting to change a tire on his blue pickup truck, which was located in the HOV lane just past the on-ramp at 700 South.
Sgt. Rick Shrader of UHP stated that the man exited his vehicle and stood in the narrow shoulder area. Due to the darkness of the night, drivers were unable to see him until it was too late. In an attempt to avoid the man, one vehicle swerved to the right while another swerved to the left, ultimately striking him in the shoulder.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but unfortunately, the man was pronounced dead at the location of the accident. No other individuals were reported injured in the incident. UHP has identified the victim as a Hispanic male, although his name has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
