Clay County, MO (February 12, 2025) – A three-vehicle collision on northbound Interstate 35 resulted in injuries and significant vehicle damage Tuesday afternoon. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 4:21 p.m. near mile marker 17 when traffic congestion caused two vehicles—a 2011 Honda Accord and a 2021 Ford F-150—to come to a complete stop in the right lane. A 2016 GMC Sierra, unable to stop in time, struck the rear of the Honda Accord, which was then pushed into the back of the Ford F-150.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene, and the 24-year-old driver of the Ford F-150, who sustained injuries, was transported by private vehicle to Liberty Hospital for treatment. No other injuries were reported.
All three vehicles sustained damage, with the Honda Accord being totaled and towed by Parsons Tow. The GMC Sierra and Ford F-150 were also removed from the scene by GT Tow and Integrity, respectively. Authorities are investigating whether speed, distraction, or following distance played a role in the crash.
Rear-End Collisions and Traffic Safety in Missouri
Rear-end collisions are one of the most common types of crashes, especially in high-traffic areas like Interstate 35. These accidents often occur when a driver fails to stop in time due to distraction, tailgating, or sudden traffic slowdowns. Missouri law requires drivers to maintain a safe following distance to prevent such incidents, particularly in congested conditions.
The severity of rear-end crashes can vary, with some leading to significant injuries, vehicle damage, and traffic disruptions. Common injuries in these accidents include whiplash, back injuries, and head trauma, even at lower speeds.
For those involved in rear-end collisions, understanding liability, insurance claims, and potential legal options can help in the recovery process. Medical expenses, vehicle repairs, and lost wages can place a financial burden on accident victims. Seeking medical attention and legal guidance can ensure that injured parties receive the support they need.
If you or a loved one has been involved in a car accident, knowing your legal rights is essential. Speaking with a professional can help you navigate insurance claims and potential compensation, ensuring a smoother path to recovery.
