She was transported by private conveyance to Liberty Hospital for further evaluation. The drivers of the Freightliner and the Lincoln Aviator, a 52-year-old woman from Pattonsburg, were not reported to have been injured.
The Kia K5 sustained extensive damage and was towed from the scene by Rite-Way Tow. The Freightliner and the Lincoln Aviator had minor to no damage and were able to be driven away. Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
Our thoughts are with the injured victim, and we wish her a full and speedy recovery.
Rear-End Collisions on Missouri Highways
Rear-end collisions are one of the most frequent types of crashes on Missouri highways, especially in high-traffic areas like I-35. When large commercial trucks are involved, the risk of serious injuries increases due to the size and weight of these vehicles. In this incident, the impact of the Freightliner pushing the Kia into a median barrier and another vehicle highlights the dangers of following too closely or failing to stop in time.
Missouri law requires drivers to maintain a safe following distance, allowing enough space to react to sudden changes in traffic flow. Large trucks, in particular, need more time and distance to slow down safely.
While the injuries in this crash were classified as minor, even low-impact rear-end collisions can lead to long-term pain, whiplash, and other complications. Those injured in accidents caused by another driver’s negligence may have legal options to recover compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and other damages.
If you or a loved one has been involved in a rear-end collision, seeking proper medical care and legal guidance can help protect your rights. Local Accident Reports is committed to connecting victims with the resources and support they need after an accident.
