Clay County, FL (March 10, 2025) – A fatal rollover crash occurred early Sunday morning in Clay County, leaving one driver dead and a passenger injured, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

The accident took place at approximately 5:56 a.m. when a car was traveling north on County Road 215 at a high rate of speed, approaching State Road 21. Investigators stated that the driver failed to negotiate a right-hand curve, causing the vehicle to veer off into the grass median.

The car then rotated, overturned, and tumbled through the intersection before coming to a final stop facing south on the north shoulder of North Periwinkle Ave.

Emergency responders transported both occupants to a nearby hospital. The driver succumbed to their injuries, while the passenger was treated for minor injuries. According to the crash report, neither individual was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

Authorities continue to investigate the crash, including whether speed or other factors contributed to the fatal outcome.

Our deepest condolences go out to the victim’s family and loved ones, and we hope for a full recovery for the injured passenger.

Rollover Accidents in Florida

Rollover crashes are among the most dangerous types of vehicle accidents, often leading to severe injuries or fatalities. High-speed travel, sharp curves, and driver error significantly increase the risk of a rollover, especially on rural or less-trafficked roads.

Seatbelt use is a crucial factor in preventing serious injuries or deaths in rollover accidents. According to national safety studies, occupants who fail to wear seatbelts are far more likely to be ejected or sustain life-threatening injuries during a crash.

For families dealing with the loss of a loved one in a car accident, Florida law provides options to seek compensation for funeral costs, lost income, and emotional suffering. Consulting with a legal professional can help determine the best course of action.
