Claiborne Parish, LA (September 29, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred on September 28, 2024, at approximately 3:45 p.m. on Louisiana Highway 146 near Public Boat Ramp Road. The incident involved a collision between a 2015 Toyota SUV and a 2014 Dodge Ram, resulting in the death of a 5-year-old child and serious injuries to a 10-year-old child.
According to the Louisiana State Police (LSP), the Toyota SUV, driven by 31-year-old Jordan Burton of Homer, was traveling west on LA Highway 146 when, for reasons still under investigation, it crossed the center line and collided with the eastbound Dodge Ram.
Burton, who was properly restrained during the crash, sustained severe injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, the 5-year-old child, who was improperly restrained in the rear seat of the Toyota, was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. The 10-year-old child, also improperly restrained, was seated in the front passenger seat and suffered serious injuries.
The driver of the Dodge Ram, who was properly restrained, also sustained some injuries but is expected to recover. All victims were taken to a local hospital for medical care.
