Claiborne County, MS – 1 Killed, 1 Seriously Injured in Head-On Collision on MS-547

Claiborne County, MS (September 19, 2024) – A fatal head-on collision claimed the life of one driver and left another seriously injured on Wednesday morning, September 18. The Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) reported that the crash occurred around 11 a.m. on MS-547 near Mount Pleasant Rd. A 2013 Infiniti Q70, driven by 44-year-old Shenetra W. Johnson of Pattison, MS, was traveling northbound when it collided with a southbound 2003 Nissan Frontier.

The Nissan, driven by 39-year-old Yefri W. Castillo-Sierra of Metairie, LA, collided head-on with Johnson’s vehicle. Sadly, Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of her injuries. Castillo-Sierra suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson for urgent medical care.

The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing, and authorities continue to gather information about the incident.
