Claiborne Co., MS (February 7, 2025) – A tragic three-vehicle collision in Claiborne County early Wednesday morning resulted in the death of one person and injuries to seven others, according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP). The crash occurred at approximately 5:49 AM on MS-547 near Tillman Road.
Authorities reported that a 2007 GMC, driven by 65-year-old Charles Oliver of Fayette, MS, was traveling south on MS-547 when it sideswiped a northbound 2011 Nissan Rogue, driven by 52-year-old Michael McCullough of Wesson, MS. Following the initial sideswipe, the GMC collided with a 2023 Ford Transit van, also traveling north, driven by 63-year-old Janie Ellis of Lorman, MS.
The Ford Transit was carrying several passengers:
- 29-year-old Randall Derby
- 60-year-old Sherman Moore
- 68-year-old Leonard Wilson
- 37-year-old Pierra Campbell
- A minor from Port Gibson, MS
- 60-year-old Terance Powell of Pattison, MS
While the driver of the Nissan Rogue was uninjured, the driver and all passengers in the Ford Transit sustained injuries and were transported to Claiborne County Medical Center in Port Gibson and Merit Health in Natchez for further treatment. The extent of their injuries has not yet been disclosed.
Tragically, Charles Oliver, the driver of the GMC, suffered fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this devastating accident.
