Clackamas County, OR (February 18, 2025) – A tragic collision involving a motorcycle and an SUV on Highway 213 last Saturday evening claimed the life of a local motorcyclist and left three others with injuries.
According to Oregon State Police, the accident took place near milepost 10 at approximately 6:45 p.m. A Harley Davidson Low Rider S, ridden by 35-year-old Kenneth Jay Isaksen of Molalla, was traveling northbound when, for unknown reasons, it crossed into the southbound lane and collided with a Ford Explorer.
Emergency responders from Clackamas Fire, Molalla Fire, and law enforcement agencies arrived at the scene to assist those involved. Sadly, Isaksen was pronounced dead at the crash site due to the severity of the impact.
The Ford Explorer was being driven by a 15-year-old from Molalla at the time of the accident. The young driver, along with two passengers—37-year-old Julie Marie Urban and a 7-year-old girl, both from Molalla—suffered minor injuries. They were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The crash caused significant traffic disruptions, with Highway 213 closed for approximately four hours while authorities conducted an investigation and cleared the wreckage. The Oregon Department of Transportation assisted in managing the affected roadway.
Investigators are still working to determine the factors leading to the collision.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Kenneth Jay Isaksen during this difficult time.
Motorcycle Accidents in Oregon
Motorcycle accidents are among the most devastating types of crashes on Oregon’s roads, often resulting in severe or fatal injuries due to the lack of protection for riders. Highway 213, a key route through Clackamas County, sees a mix of local and highway traffic, making it a potentially hazardous area for motorcyclists, especially during peak travel hours.
Several factors can contribute to motorcycle collisions, including road conditions, driver inexperience, visibility issues, and sudden lane changes. While authorities are still investigating this specific incident, crashes involving lane departures can often be linked to distracted riding, mechanical issues, or even medical events.
Oregon law requires all motorcyclists to wear helmets, but even with protective gear, the impact of a high-speed collision can be fatal. To improve safety, motorcyclists are encouraged to remain alert, avoid riding in poor visibility conditions, and take defensive driving courses to enhance their skills. Additionally, all drivers should remain vigilant, especially on highways where mixed vehicle types share the road.
