Chicago, IL (December 16, 2024) – A tragic crash involving multiple vehicles left two people dead and two others injured early Sunday morning on the Northwest Side of Chicago. The collision occurred around 12:15 a.m. in the 8700 block of West Irving Park Rd, according to Chicago police.
Authorities report that a red sedan traveling westbound on Irving Park Rd collided with a black SUV occupied by three women. The SUV, which was originally traveling eastbound, may have been attempting to cross the sedan’s lane of traffic.
Two passengers in the SUV were fatally injured. Jihad Badran, 56, was transported to Resurrection Hospital and later pronounced dead. Bayan Sofyan Ismael, 30, was taken to Lutheran General Hospital, where she was also pronounced dead. A third woman, 23, was transported to the same hospital and is reported to be in fair condition.
The 29-year-old man driving the red sedan was also transported to Lutheran General Hospital in fair condition. Additionally, a gray sedan was involved in the crash and may have been struck by the black SUV. The driver of that vehicle, a 22-year-old man, was not injured.
No citations have been issued, and Area Five detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
