Chicago, IL (January 13, 2025) – A man is in custody following a collision involving a CTA bus early Monday morning at the intersection of S. Dearborn St and Van Buren St in Chicago’s Loop. The crash occurred at approximately 12:07 a.m., according to Chicago police.
Authorities reported that the driver of a gray Jeep was traveling eastbound on Van Buren, a one-way street when he collided with a CTA bus heading northbound on Dearborn. After striking the bus, the Jeep also hit an unoccupied parked car before coming to a stop.
Both the driver of the Jeep and his female passenger were transported to a nearby hospital with injuries. The driver of the CTA bus, a woman, was also taken to the hospital but is expected to recover. Fortunately, there were no passengers on the bus at the time of the crash.
The Jeep driver has been taken into custody, and charges are pending as police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
