Chicago, IL (January 7, 2025) – A 72-year-old man is in critical condition following an early-morning apartment fire in the West Side’s Homan Square neighborhood. The fire occurred in a three-flat building on the 3300 block of West Polk St, near Spaulding Ave.
Chicago firefighters responded to the scene, climbing a ladder to reach the top floor, where the fire was contained. The injured man was transported to Stroger Hospital of Cook County in critical condition. Authorities confirmed that no one else was hurt during the incident.
