Cherokee County, AL (December 11, 2024) – A tragic two-vehicle crash occurred Monday afternoon at approximately 12:50 PM on Alabama 35 near Cherokee County 782, resulting in the death of a Gaylesville man. Benjamin M. Davis, 46, was critically injured when the 2013 Hyundai Elantra he was driving collided head-on with a 2024 Peterbilt tractor-trailer driven by Jeff E. Stoops, 46, of Sandusky, Ohio.
Emergency responders, including Gaylesville Fire, Broomtown Fire, and Atrium Floyd EMS, arrived on the scene shortly after the crash. Davis was transported to Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center in Rome, GA for treatment but tragically succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased shortly after arriving.
