Chatfield Township, MN (December 14, 2024) – A vehicle collision with injuries occurred Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Highway 52 and County Road 6 in Chatfield Township, Fillmore County. The crash involved a 2013 Ford F150 and a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado.
According to authorities, the Ford F150, driven by 47-year-old Justin Leroy Rickert of Canton, MN, was traveling southbound on Highway 52 when it collided with the northbound Chevrolet Silverado, driven by 53-year-old Eric Peter Ruen of Lanesboro, MN. Both vehicles were heavily damaged in the collision.
Rickert, who was not wearing a seatbelt, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Mayo Clinic for treatment. Ruen, who was wearing a seatbelt, was uninjured in the crash.
The road conditions were dry at the time of the collision. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash, with alcohol involvement still unknown. Emergency responders from Chatfield PD, Chatfield Fire, and Fillmore County SO, along with MN DOT, assisted in the response and investigation.
