Chaseburg, WI (November 15, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred on Schoenagel Ln in Chaseburg at approximately 11:00 AM when a 39-year-old construction worker, David Hibbard Rode Puig of Viola, became critically injured while operating an all-terrain telescopic handler. Rode Puig was caught between the machinery and an exterior wall while installing siding on a new home. Despite life-saving efforts from law enforcement and emergency responders, he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency crews from the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched immediately to the site, but unfortunately, Rode Puig could not be saved. Sheriff Roy Torgerson expressed his condolences, stating, “My heart goes out to a hurting family,” and thanked all those involved in the rescue efforts.
