Charlotte, NC (January 7, 2025) – A tragic pedestrian crash in north Charlotte early Monday morning claimed the life of 48-year-old Petrina Ann Williams. The incident occurred just before 6:50 AM in the 4500 block of Reagan Dr.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police reported that responding officers found Williams lying on the ground and a white 2018 Ford Transit with visible front-end and windshield damage. The driver, 20-year-old Eliceo Zunun Aguilar, remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
MEDIC transported Williams to the hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. Investigators determined that Aguilar was driving west on Reagan Dr toward North Graham St when he struck Williams as she was crossing the road. It was dark and raining at the time, and Williams was reportedly wearing dark clothing. Authorities do not believe speed or impairment were contributing factors.
The investigation remains ongoing. Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of Petrina Ann Williams during this difficult time.

Crashes involving pedestrians often result in severe injuries or fatalities due to the lack of physical protection for those on foot.
After such tragedies, investigations focus on identifying all contributing factors, including road conditions and driver and pedestrian behavior. Families of victims face not only emotional distress but also financial burdens, including funeral costs and loss of support.
