Charlotte County, FL (February 24, 2025) – A motorcyclist lost his life, and another driver was hospitalized following a crash Sunday night on South McCall Road near Point of Pines Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers reported that the crash occurred around 7:46 p.m. when a motorcycle was speeding along South McCall Road. At the same time, a sedan was stopped on the roadway, waiting for traffic to clear before making a turn.
According to officials, the motorcyclist attempted to pass between the stopped sedan and a southbound vehicle when he struck the sedan head-on. The impact caused the rider to be thrown from the motorcycle, and the bike subsequently struck the sedan’s windshield. Additionally, debris from the crash hit a third vehicle.
Emergency responders transported the 28-year-old motorcyclist, an Englewood resident, to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the sedan, a 67-year-old man, was hospitalized with injuries.
Authorities continue to investigate the crash, and no further details have been released at this time.
