Hit-and-Run Accidents in Florida
Hit-and-run accidents remain a growing concern across Florida, with tragic consequences for pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorists alike. Roadways like U.S.-41, which experience consistent traffic flow, are often sites of these devastating incidents, particularly during early morning hours when visibility is reduced.
The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) reports that over 100,000 hit-and-run crashes occur annually across the state. Fleeing the scene of an accident is not only illegal but can also result in increased penalties when injuries or fatalities are involved. Drivers are required by law to remain at the scene, assist injured parties, and report the incident to authorities.
In cases of fatal hit-and-run crashes, the emotional and financial toll on victims’ families is significant. Surviving family members may pursue justice and compensation to cover funeral costs, lost income, and other related expenses.
