Charlestown, WI (March 6, 2025) – A devastating head-on collision on State Highway 32/57 in Calumet County claimed the lives of two people and left another in critical condition on Wednesday evening.
According to the Calumet County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the crash near Shady Lane Dr shortly before 6:30 p.m. A preliminary investigation revealed that a northbound SUV veered into the southbound lanes, colliding head-on with a pickup truck. Both vehicles came to rest in the southbound lanes following the impact.
The driver of the pickup, a 73-year-old man, and his passenger, a 70-year-old woman—both from the New Holstein area—were transported to a nearby hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries.
The driver of the SUV, a 57-year-old woman from the Chilton area, sustained critical injuries and remains hospitalized.
Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the crash, and an investigation is ongoing.
