Roadside Crashes in Illinois
Roadside crashes involving law enforcement and emergency personnel are a growing concern on Illinois highways. According to the Illinois State Police (ISP), more than two dozen similar incidents have occurred this year, underscoring the dangers faced by those who serve to protect public safety on the roads.
Drivers are reminded of the state’s “Move Over” law (Scott’s Law), which requires motorists to slow down and change lanes when approaching emergency vehicles stopped with lights activated. Failing to adhere to this law not only endangers first responders but also increases the risk of serious or fatal incidents.
Trooper Carns’ death is a tragic reminder of the risks law enforcement officers face daily. As an 11-year veteran of the Illinois State Police, he dedicated his career to serving and protecting the people of Illinois. The loss of such a committed public servant is deeply felt across the community and law enforcement agencies nationwide.
For those impacted by roadside crashes, the aftermath can involve significant emotional and financial challenges. Professional guidance can help families navigate the complexities of legal claims and secure support during their recovery.
