Ceres, CA (November 24, 2024) – A fatal pedestrian accident occurred late Saturday night on S 9th St near State Route 99, prompting an extensive emergency response. The tragic incident was reported around 9:11 PM, with initial calls indicating a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle.
Emergency responders, including California Highway Patrol (CHP), paramedics, and local fire crews, arrived to find the pedestrian unresponsive. The vehicle involved was located shortly after, with visible collision damage, parked on the right shoulder of southbound SR-99 just south of Hatch Rd. Despite efforts, the pedestrian succumbed to their injuries at the scene.
Road closures were implemented on the on-ramp to SR-99 and portions of 9th St leading to Hatch Rd as investigators worked to document evidence and reconstruct the events leading to the collision. E Towing was dispatched to remove the vehicle for evidence processing. CHP is leading the investigation, with witness accounts and vehicle inspections being key to determining the cause.
Fire officials were requested for roadway cleanup but indicated they no longer provide wash-down services. The area reopened to traffic in the early morning hours.
