Center Township, PA (February 1, 2025) – Emergency crews responded to a serious head-on collision in the 600 block of Oneida Valley Rd (Rt 38) in Center Township.

The crash occurred around 4:00 p.m. and involved two vehicles. Upon arrival, first responders from Stations 14 and 99 found both vehicles still on the roadway, with the drivers remaining inside their vehicles. Although initial concerns suggested possible entrapment, emergency personnel later confirmed that no extractions were necessary.

Multiple ambulances were requested as paramedics assessed the injured parties. At least three individuals were required to be transported to local hospitals, with one patient being taken to Allegheny General Hospital and two others being transported to Butler Memorial Hospital (BMH) for treatment. Authorities temporarily shut down Rt 38 at Glenwood and Pine Tract Rd to facilitate emergency operations and clear the wreckage.

After extensive efforts from emergency personnel, the road was reopened at 5:15 p.m. The cause of the crash is under investigation, and further updates will be provided as officials release additional details.

Our thoughts are with those injured in this accident, and we hope for their full recovery.

Head-on Collisions in Pennsylvania

Head-on collisions are among the most severe types of crashes, often resulting in significant injuries due to the direct impact force. In Pennsylvania, thousands of such incidents occur annually, frequently on two-lane highways like Oneida Valley Rd. Factors such as distracted driving, speeding, and roadway conditions can contribute to these dangerous crashes.

According to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), head-on collisions are more likely to result in severe injuries or fatalities compared to other accident types. Immediate medical attention is critical for victims, as injuries sustained in these crashes often involve head trauma, fractures, and internal injuries.

For those injured in a head-on collision, medical bills, lost wages, and rehabilitation costs can create financial strain. Seeking legal guidance can help victims understand their rights and pursue compensation for their losses.
