Cavendish, VT (October 2, 2024) – A serious three-vehicle crash occurred on Tuesday afternoon, October 1, in Cavendish, resulting in several injuries, including one driver with life-threatening injuries. According to Vermont State Police, 41-year-old Tommy Newhall of Chester was driving northbound when he sideswiped another vehicle. The impact caused the second vehicle to roll over multiple times before it came to a stop on its wheels. Newhall’s Cadillac continued moving forward and collided head-on with a third vehicle, resulting in both vehicles coming to a halt in the southbound lane.
Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene, and Newhall was airlifted to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center due to the severity of his injuries. Authorities reported that his condition was life-threatening. The occupants of the other two vehicles included a pair from Keene, New Hampshire, and a woman from Ludlow, Vermont, along with two children. Fortunately, they all sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported by ambulance to Springfield Hospital for further evaluation.
