Cass Township, OH (December 17, 2024) – A two-vehicle injury accident occurred at the intersection of TR 236 and CR 109 in Cass Township at approximately 7:55 a.m. on Tuesday morning. Emergency responders from Hancock County, including Hanco EMS, quickly arrived at the scene to provide medical assistance. Thomas Metzger, 62, of Whitehouse, OH, was driving southbound on TR 236 in a 2002 Buick LaSabre when he stopped at a stop sign at CR 109. He proceeded into the intersection, where his vehicle was struck on the driver’s side door by a 202 Subaru driven by Sarah Lewis, 42, of Arcadia, OH, who was traveling westbound.

Due to the severity of the crash, Mr. Metzger had to be extracted from his vehicle and was transported to Blanchard Valley Hospital with unknown injuries. Mrs. Lewis, the driver of the Subaru, was uninjured and did not require medical transport. Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.

Hancock County Sheriff’s Office issued a citation to Mr. Metzger for failure to yield from a stop sign. Allen Township Fire Department, Hanco EMS, Franks Towing, and BG Towing assisted at the scene. The investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing.

We hope for the full recovery of all the wounded individuals.
