Cass County, MI (February 23, 2025) – The Cass County Sheriff’s Office responded to a tow vehicle crash at the intersection of Daily Road and M-60 on Saturday evening. The accident, which occurred around 7:42 p.m., resulted in multiple people being transported to the hospital.

Investigators determined that a 24-year-old driver from Osceola was traveling southbound on Daily Road when they failed to yield to a westbound vehicle on M-60, leading to the collision. The impact caused injuries among passengers in both vehicles.

Among those involved was a newborn child who was properly restrained in the 24-year-old’s vehicle. The infant was transported by ambulance to Memorial Hospital in South Bend for evaluation, though reports indicate the child did not appear to have any injuries. Passengers in the second vehicle also sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to the same hospital for treatment.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash to determine any further contributing factors.

Our thoughts are with those injured in this accident.

Right-of-Way Violations and Intersection Accidents in Michigan

Failure to yield at intersections is a leading cause of traffic collisions in Michigan. When drivers disregard right-of-way laws, the risk of serious crashes increases, especially on major roadways like M-60, where high speeds can make intersection accidents particularly dangerous.

According to Michigan State Police crash data, many right-of-way violations occur due to distraction, misjudgment of traffic gaps, or failure to recognize posted signs. Such accidents often result in injuries ranging from minor to severe, depending on the speed and impact of the crash.

Drivers can reduce the likelihood of intersection collisions by exercising caution, obeying traffic signals, and ensuring they have a clear path before proceeding. Properly restraining child passengers is also critical, as seen in this incident, where a newborn was safely secured and avoided injury.

If you or a loved one has been affected by an intersection crash, seeking medical attention and understanding your legal rights are important steps toward recovery.
