Caruthers, CA (March 8, 2025) – An 18-year-old driver was killed in a two-vehicle collision early Friday morning at the intersection of W Kamm Ave and S Brawley Ave in Caruthers.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), Daniel Avila, a resident of Caruthers, was driving a Ford truck westbound on W Kamm Ave when he collided with an oncoming semi-truck in the center of the roadway.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene to assist, but Avila sustained fatal injuries in the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi-truck was not reported to have suffered any serious injuries.
Authorities are still investigating the circumstances leading to the collision. It is not yet clear whether speed, driver error, or other contributing factors played a role in the tragic incident.
