Carroll County, MD (December 20, 2024) – A two-vehicle collision involving a school bus occurred Thursday morning on Maryland Route 30 in Hampstead, according to Maryland State Police.

The accident happened in the 100 Block of Maryland Route 30 (Hanover Pike) when a car crossed the yellow line and struck Bus 376 head-on in the northbound lane. The school bus, which was transporting a student and driver, sustained significant damage and was deemed undrivable.

Authorities confirmed that the car’s driver, Brandon Roser, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Shock Trauma in Baltimore. We hope the injured individuals recover rapidly.

Preventing Head-On Collisions

Head-on collisions are among the most dangerous types of vehicle accidents. They often occur when a driver crosses into oncoming traffic, as in this incident. Here are some ways to reduce the risk of such accidents:

  • Stay Alert: Avoid distractions and stay focused on the road.
  • Follow Speed Limits: Adhering to speed limits can help prevent loss of control.
  • Avoid Impairment: Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is a leading cause of head-on collisions.

Head-on collisions can have lasting impacts on the victims and their families, underscoring the importance of road safety awareness.
