Carraway, FL (February 26, 2025) – Two adults lost their lives, and a 12-year-old boy was seriously injured in a head-on crash Tuesday morning near Carraway, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
The fatal crash occurred around 7:00 a.m. on State Road 100, east of Roberts Lane. Authorities confirmed that a 34-year-old man from Live Oak and a 38-year-old woman from Palatka succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash. A 12-year-old boy, also from Palatka, was hospitalized with serious injuries.
FHP’s investigation revealed that the crash involved three vehicles:
- A sedan driven by the Live Oak man was traveling eastbound on S.R. 100 when, for unknown reasons, it veered into the westbound lane.
- The vehicle sideswiped another sedan, driven by a 30-year-old Palatka man, before colliding head-on with a sports utility vehicle carrying the Palatka woman and child.
Emergency responders arrived quickly to the scene, where they found the roadway completely blocked. The second driver, the Palatka man, sustained only minor injuries.
Due to the severity of the crash, both directions of S.R. 100 were shut down for several hours. The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office diverted traffic to Springside Shortcut Road and Carraway Mail Route Road. By 1:30 p.m., officials confirmed that traffic flow had resumed.
Our deepest condolences go out to the families of the victims, and we hope for a full recovery for the injured child.

Head-on collisions are among the most severe types of car accidents, often resulting in catastrophic injuries or fatalities. High-speed roadways like S.R. 100 pose significant risks, especially when a vehicle unexpectedly crosses into oncoming traffic.
Florida records thousands of fatal crashes each year, with lane departures being a leading cause of head-on collisions. Factors such as distracted driving, drowsy driving, and sudden medical emergencies can contribute to these tragic events.
Victims and their families often face overwhelming medical costs, emotional trauma, and financial hardships following serious accidents. Understanding one’s legal rights and seeking support can be essential steps toward recovery.
