Canandaigua, NY (September 20, 2024) – On Thursday, September 19, Ontario County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a two-car accident at the intersection of Emerson Road and Sandhill Road in the Town of Canandaigua. The incident highlights the importance of adhering to traffic signals and signs to ensure the safety of all road users.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Sylvia Jimenez, 33, was driving a 2009 Dodge Van when she failed to yield at a stop sign located on Sandhill Road. As a result, Jimenez’s vehicle collided with a 2012 Dodge Ram 2500 driven by 25-year-old Cadin Lloyd, also from Canandaigua.

The force of the impact caused Jimenez’s van to strike an RG&E utility pole. Emergency responders arrived on the scene promptly, and a passenger in Jimenez’s van was transported to F.F. Thompson Hospital with complaints of a neck injury. Fortunately, there were no reports of life-threatening injuries from the crash.

Following the accident, Jimenez was cited for unlicensed operation of a vehicle and for failing to yield at the stop sign. These citations serve as a reminder of the responsibilities that come with operating a vehicle, particularly the critical importance of obeying traffic laws to prevent accidents.

Our thoughts are with those affected by this incident, especially the injured passenger, and we hope for a swift recovery.
