Campton, NH (September 26, 2024) – A serious traffic accident occurred on Wednesday, September 25, involving a commercial tractor-trailer and a New Hampshire Department of Transportation (DOT) truck. At approximately 12:01 p.m., State Troopers from the Troop F barracks responded to the scene on Interstate 93 southbound.
Upon arrival, law enforcement officials discovered two damaged vehicles in the median, including a 1997 Peterbilt tractor-trailer and a Ford F450 dump truck operated by the NH DOT. Preliminary investigations revealed that the tractor-trailer was traveling through an active construction zone where the travel lane had been closed. Reports indicate that the driver of the Ford dump truck failed to yield while pulling out from the closed lane, leading to a collision with the tractor-trailer.
As a result of the impact, both vehicles were sent off the highway and into the median. Emergency responders transported the driver and passenger of the DOT truck, along with the driver of the tractor-trailer, to a local hospital for evaluation of their injuries, which were reported as non-life-threatening.
The accident prompted a partial closure of I-93 for approximately five-and-a-half hours as authorities conducted their investigation and cleared the scene.
