Cameron, MO (January 4, 2024) – A serious crash involving a trash truck and a grain truck left two men injured on Friday afternoon along State Route A, approximately 4 miles southwest of Cameron. Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene around 2:50 p.m.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 42-year-old man from St. Joseph was driving a 2023 Peterbilt trash truck eastbound on the highway when an unidentified grain truck traveling in the opposite direction crossed the centerline. In an effort to avoid a collision, the trash truck driver veered off the south side of the road but overcorrected, causing the vehicle to cross the centerline and overturn in the north ditch.
The trash truck landed on its driver’s side, facing east. Emergency personnel transported the 50-year-old passenger from Maysville to Mosaic Life Care with serious injuries. The driver, who sustained less severe injuries, was taken to Cameron Regional Medical Center by a private vehicle. The grain truck reportedly left the scene, and no further details about its involvement have been released.
We hope the injured parties make a full recovery.
