Callaway County, MO (March 4, 2025) – A multi-vehicle crash on US-54 near County Road 211 left one woman injured on Monday morning.
According to reports from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 11:15 a.m. when a 45-year-old woman from Fulton, Missouri, driving a 2022 Hyundai Kona, failed to stop at a traffic light. Her vehicle struck a 2022 Subaru Crosstrek, driven by a 52-year-old woman from St. Louis. The impact then caused the Hyundai to collide with a 2016 RAM 1500, driven by a 23-year-old man from Martinsburg, Missouri.
Emergency medical services from Callaway County responded to the scene and transported the Hyundai driver to University Hospital for treatment of moderate injuries. The other two drivers were not reported injured.
Both the Hyundai Kona and Subaru Crosstrek sustained extensive damage and were towed from the scene, while the RAM 1500, which had moderate damage, was driven away. The collision temporarily blocked the turn lanes on US-54 as authorities worked to clear the wreckage.
The crash remains under investigation.
Our thoughts are with the injured driver, and we wish her a full recovery.
Multi-Vehicle Crashes in Missouri
Intersections and traffic signals are common locations for multi-vehicle crashes, particularly when drivers fail to stop as required. These types of collisions can cause severe injuries and traffic disruptions, especially on major highways like US-54.
In this case, failure to stop at a traffic light initiated a chain-reaction crash, demonstrating how one moment of inattention can affect multiple drivers. Missouri law requires motorists to obey all traffic signals and maintain a safe following distance to avoid such incidents.
Multi-vehicle crashes often result in complex liability issues, as multiple drivers and insurance companies may be involved in determining fault. Seeking medical care, documenting the accident, and consulting with professionals can help injured individuals navigate the recovery process.
