Caldwell, ID (March 3, 2024) – A tragic accident on Idaho Highway 19 early Sunday morning left one woman dead and another hospitalized. The collision occurred at approximately 5:54 a.m. near Dixie River Road, west of Caldwell, according to the Idaho State Police (ISP).
Authorities reported that a 27-year-old woman from Homedale was traveling east on the highway when her vehicle struck a pedestrian walking in the eastbound lanes. The pedestrian, identified as a 47-year-old woman from Nampa, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver sustained injuries and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. Officials have not released further details regarding her condition.
The Idaho State Police are leading the investigation, with assistance from the Canyon County Sheriff’s Office, Caldwell Fire Department, and Canyon County Paramedics. The Canyon County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the victim’s identity.
