Cajon Pass, CA (November 3, 2024) – A serious traffic accident occurred on Friday night, resulting in injuries to five individuals when two vehicles collided and caught fire on Highway 138. The incident took place around 9 PM at the sharp turn between Interstate 15 and Summit Valley Road, as reported by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) and the San Bernardino County Fire Department.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the crash involved a Ford pickup truck, possibly a Maverick or Ranger, and an unknown sedan. Both vehicles sustained heavy front-end damage and were engulfed in flames upon the arrival of rescue crews. Thanks to the quick actions of Good Samaritans, all occupants were pulled from the burning vehicles before emergency responders arrived.
Emergency services requested at least five ambulances and a Mercy Air helicopter to assist with the situation. However, the medical helicopter was later canceled for reasons that have not yet been disclosed. A total of five individuals were transported by ground ambulances to a nearby trauma hospital, where they are being treated for life-threatening injuries.
