Butler County, PA (December 30, 2024) – Stations 3, 1, 38, and 99 were dispatched today in the afternoon to a two-vehicle motor vehicle accident (MVA) on Route 422 Westbound near Duffy Road. Initial reports indicated injuries, with subsequent calls suggesting the crash might have occurred eastbound. However, traffic delays were noted in the westbound lanes.
Emergency responders arrived to find one vehicle in the fast lane of the westbound side with minor front-end damage. EN-38 reported that all occupants were out of the vehicles and denying injuries. EMS services (99-6) continued to the scene to confirm the status of all involved parties.
Command was established by EN-1-2, while EN-38 was released from the scene. Units including SQ-3, RQ-3-2, and 99-6 remained on-site to manage traffic and provide medical evaluation. At 3:46 p.m., 99-6 confirmed a patient refusal for medical transport, and by 3:59 p.m., the incident was officially terminated, with all units cleared.
We wish a speedy recovery to all the injured individuals.
Traffic Safety on Pennsylvania Highways
Highways like Rt 422 often see vehicle accidents during peak travel times due to high speeds, merging traffic, and sudden stops. In this case, the timely response of emergency services ensured that the scene was managed effectively and no further hazards were created.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation advises drivers to stay alert, maintain safe speeds, and exercise caution, particularly in high-traffic or multi-lane areas. Defensive driving and adherence to traffic regulations are crucial in minimizing the risk of accidents.
For those involved in minor collisions, seeking medical evaluation, even if injuries are not immediately apparent, is always recommended. Proper documentation ensures that any potential issues are addressed promptly.
