Burlington, NC (January 18, 2025) – A serious two-vehicle crash on Friday morning resulted in one fatality, according to the Burlington Police Department. The collision occurred at approximately 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of NC-87 and South Mebane St.
Authorities report that a Chevrolet SUV traveling on NC-87 ran a red light and crashed into a 1997 Mercury. Both drivers sustained serious injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. Tragically, the driver of the Mercury, identified as Thomas Coble, succumbed to his injuries at 11:32 a.m., according to police.
Emergency responders from Alamance County Rescue, Alamance County EMS, and the Burlington Fire Department assisted at the scene. Their efforts included extracting one of the drivers from the vehicle involved in the crash.
