Burlington, MA (December 30, 2024) – A tragic house fire on Sunday afternoon claimed the life of a 60-year-old man on Evelyn St in Burlington. The fire was reported at approximately 4 p.m. when a passerby noticed the flames at 16 Evelyn St and immediately called 911.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and found heavy fire pouring from the roof of the home. A Burlington Police officer bravely entered the burning residence and discovered an unconscious man, later identified as Paul Spencer. The officer successfully pulled him from the house, and Spencer was transported to Lahey Hospital & Medical Center in Burlington for treatment. Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
The cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation by local authorities.
