Burkeville, TX (October 29, 2024) – A crash occurred early Tuesday morning on Highway 63 in north Newton County, resulting in one driver being injured. The incident took place around 6:30 a.m., approximately 4 miles west of Burkeville, near the intersection with Farm to Market Road 1415.

According to Texas Department of Public Safety Sergeant Shana Clark, 32-year-old Melissa Estes from Leesville, LA, was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Malibu eastbound when she crossed over into the westbound lane. Her vehicle collided with a westbound 2019 Honda HRV, driven by 42-year-old Thomas Grimsal of Boyce, LA.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene, and Estes was transported to Jasper Memorial Hospital for treatment of her injuries. Fortunately, Grimsal was not injured in the collision.
