Burke County, NC (September 19, 2024) – A deadly hit-and-run accident occurred Wednesday morning on I-40 West near Enola Rd, according to NC State Highway Patrol. Troopers reported that a tractor-trailer struck 25-year-old pedestrian Alfredo Hernandez-Son, who was walking along the interstate. The driver fled the scene after the crash.

Authorities believe the vehicle involved is a 2018 or newer Freightliner Cascadia, missing its right front headlight assembly and showing damage to the right front bumper and hood.
