Buffalo, NY – Fatal Wrong-Way Accident on Rte 33 Near Grider St

Buffalo, NY (September 3, 2024) – A fatal wrong-way accident occurred Sunday night on Rte 33 near the Grider St exit. Around 9:30 p.m., a Nissan Altima was driving the wrong way in the eastbound lane and collided head-on with another vehicle.

The Altima’s driver, a 26-year-old man, was taken to ECMC, where he was pronounced dead, his family confirmed. Two passengers from the other vehicle were also hospitalized with apparent non-life-threatening injuries.

Buffalo police are investigating the circumstances of the crash and are expected to provide updates as more information becomes available.
