Buffalo, MO (February 14, 2025) – A three-vehicle crash occurred Tuesday afternoon on US 65, approximately one mile north of Buffalo, resulting in injuries and significant vehicle damage.
Emergency responders were quick to the scene, providing care to the injured victims. The accident took place at around 4:53 p.m. when a 1997 Toyota 4Runner attempted to make a right turn. A 2019 Chevrolet Equinox, traveling northbound behind the Toyota, slowed down but was struck from behind by a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado. The force of the collision caused the Equinox to crash into the Toyota 4Runner.
First responders, including medics, assessed and treated individuals hurt in the crash. A 39-year-old female driver of the Toyota, along with a 9-year-old female and a 1-year-old male passenger, sustained injuries. They were transported to Citizens Memorial Hospital in Bolivar for medical evaluation.
All three vehicles suffered extensive damage, with both the Chevrolet Equinox and Chevrolet Silverado being towed from the scene by Stauffers Towing. The Toyota 4Runner was removed by its owner. Officials are continuing their investigation into the crash to determine if additional factors contributed to the chain-reaction collision.

Rear-End Collisions in Missouri
Rear-end collisions are among the most common types of accidents on Missouri roadways, often resulting from distracted driving, following too closely, or sudden traffic slowdowns. In cases like this, multiple vehicles can become involved in secondary collisions, increasing the risk of injuries.
According to the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT), rear-end crashes make up a significant percentage of overall accidents across the state, particularly on highways where sudden braking can lead to chain-reaction crashes. Defensive driving techniques, such as maintaining a safe following distance and staying alert to changes in traffic flow, can help reduce the risk of these collisions.
For those injured in rear-end crashes, seeking medical attention is critical, even if injuries initially appear minor. Additionally, understanding insurance policies and legal rights can help individuals recover damages for medical expenses and vehicle repairs.
