Brooklyn, NY (February 6, 2025) – Emergency responders were called to the scene Thursday afternoon after a person was struck by a northbound (N) train at the New Utrecht Ave Station in Bensonhurst.
According to reports, police and firefighters arrived at the station around 3:56 p.m. and worked to remove power from the tracks to safely extract the individual. Power was successfully cut, and emergency personnel proceeded with the rescue operation.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) implemented multiple service changes due to the incident, rerouting some northbound (N) trains via the (D) line from Coney Island-Stillwell Ave to 36 St. Passengers were advised to expect delays in both directions and allow extra travel time.
By 4:38 p.m., emergency personnel had cleared the tracks, and power was restored to resume train movement. However, authorities briefly removed power again for further investigation between Avenue U and 8th Avenue.
Officials have not yet released details on the individual’s condition or whether the incident was accidental or involved criminal activity.
Our thoughts are with the injured individual, and we hope for a full recovery.
