Brooklyn, NY (November 21, 2024) – A tragic accident involving an unmarked NYPD vehicle claimed the life of a woman on Wednesday evening in East New York. Authorities responded to a 911 call around 6:10 PM reporting the incident near the intersection of Riverdale Ave and Pennsylvania Ave.
According to police, the victim, believed to have been homeless, was lying in the street when she was struck by a black Toyota Sienna driven by members of an NYPD warrant squad. Witnesses reported that the vehicle was traveling northbound on Pennsylvania Ave without lights or sirens at the time of the incident. The woman suffered severe head injuries upon impact.
Emergency Medical Services arrived at the scene and transported the woman to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center, but she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
