Brook Park, MN (February 14, 2025) – A traffic accident with injuries was reported Thursday evening at Highway 23 and 2nd Avenue South in Pine County. Emergency responders were quick to the scene, providing care to the injured victims.
According to authorities, the crash occurred at approximately 5:49 p.m. when a 2008 Toyota Prius, traveling eastbound on Mallard Road, failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 eastbound on Highway 23.
Emergency crews, including Pine County Sheriff’s Office and Essentia Ambulance, responded to assist those involved. The driver of the Toyota Prius, identified as 52-year-old Joseph Paul Krajewski of Brook Park, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Mora Hospital for treatment. His airbags did not deploy, but he was wearing a seatbelt during the crash.
The driver of the Dodge Ram 2500, 20-year-old Logan Louis Leyendecker, also from Brook Park, was not injured. His vehicle’s airbags did not deploy, and he was also wearing a seatbelt. A 16-year-old male passenger in the Dodge Ram was reported to be unharmed.
The intersection was temporarily affected as officials worked to clear the wreckage and investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision. Authorities have not indicated any involvement of alcohol in the incident.
