Bronx, NY (February 25, 2025) – A tragic motorcycle crash in the Soundview neighborhood of the Bronx claimed the life of a 17-year-old and left a 14-year-old passenger injured on Monday evening.
According to the New York Police Department, the fatal accident occurred just before 7 p.m. at the intersection of Metcalf Ave and East 172nd St. Authorities report that 17-year-old Alexander Juan Quizhpi-Naranjo was operating a motorcycle with a 14-year-old girl as his passenger when they collided with a Honda Odyssey minivan driven by a 42-year-old man.
Emergency crews arrived on the scene and transported Quizhpi-Naranjo to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi, where he was pronounced dead. The 14-year-old passenger sustained injuries but is expected to recover.
The driver of the Honda Odyssey remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. He was not hospitalized following the crash. Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
