The incident took place around 4:20 p.m. on Aurora Road, near the intersection with Cecilia Street. According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the girl was attempting to cross the street when she was struck by a vehicle.
Reports indicate that a woman from Groveland was driving a 2013 Dodge Durango westbound on Aurora Road at the time of the accident. The girl was not in a designated crosswalk when the collision occurred. Following the impact, she was transported to Holmes Regional Hospital, where she sadly succumbed to her injuries.
The driver of the Dodge Durango, along with her three passengers, did not sustain any injuries and remained at the scene to cooperate with law enforcement. The FHP is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident, and no further details have been released at this time.
