Brandenburg, KY (January 20, 2025) – A tragic two-vehicle crash on KY 313 at the entrance to River Ridge Plaza claimed the life of a juvenile passenger on Saturday afternoon. The accident occurred at approximately 12:15 p.m. and remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police (KSP).
According to authorities, 42-year-old Kevin Owens was driving on KY 313 when he attempted a left turn into River Ridge Plaza. During the turn, Owens’ vehicle crossed into the path of a 2024 Freightliner dump truck driven by 24-year-old Shawn Goddard, resulting in a severe collision.
Both Owens and the juvenile passenger were unrestrained at the time of the crash. Emergency responders transported them to Harrison County Hospital, where the juvenile succumbed to their injuries. Owens’ condition has not been disclosed.
KSP troopers are actively investigating the crash to determine the contributing factors. Additional details may be released as the investigation progresses.
