Boynton Beach, FL (January 18, 2025) – A Boynton Beach man tragically lost his life in a motorcycle crash Thursday afternoon near Phil Foster Park. The incident occurred on the bridge along East Blue Heron Blvd, just west of the park, when his Harley motorcycle collided with a car in front of him.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as 59-year-old Lawrence Begnoche of New Palm Way. Reports indicate Begnoche was traveling westbound in the outside lane at a speed exceeding the posted 35 mph limit. According to officials, he failed to react to the vehicle ahead, a Nissan Versa, resulting in the motorcycle striking the car’s left rear. Both Begnoche and his passenger, Jamie Leach-Cato, were ejected from the motorcycle, landing in the inside lane of travel.
Begnoche was pronounced dead at the scene, while his passenger was transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center with serious injuries. The occupants of the Nissan Versa, residents of Greenacres, were unharmed in the crash.
The incident remains under investigation by local authorities.
