Boone County, MO (January 15, 2025) – A two-vehicle collision occurred late Tuesday morning on Interstate 70 Eastbound at mile marker 118.6. The crash, reported at approximately 10:18 a.m., involved a 2005 GMC 1500 and a 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan.
Emergency responders from Boone County and local agencies arrived at the scene to assist those involved. The GMC 1500, driven by a 69-year-old male from Boonville, sustained moderate damage and was towed by Larry’s Towing. The Dodge Grand Caravan, driven by a 72-year-old female from Pana, IL, also sustained moderate damage and was removed from the scene by Slate Towing.
The driver of the Grand Caravan suffered injuries and was transported to University Hospital via private conveyance for further evaluation and treatment. Reports indicate that the collision occurred when traffic in the left lane began to slow due to an incident ahead, and the GMC 1500 struck the rear of the Dodge Grand Caravan.
Cpl. N.W. March of the Missouri State Highway Patrol conducted the investigation. The cause of the crash is under review. Our thoughts are with the individuals involved, and we hope for a quick recovery for the injured driver.
Car Accidents in Missouri
Interstate 70 is a busy thoroughfare in Missouri, frequently witnessing vehicle collisions due to high traffic volume and sudden changes in traffic flow. Rear-end collisions, such as this one, often occur when drivers fail to maintain a safe following distance, particularly in heavy or stop-and-go traffic.
In 2024, rear-end collisions accounted for a significant portion of Missouri’s highway accidents, with distracted driving cited as a primary cause. Older drivers, like those involved in this incident, are often at a higher risk of injury due to age-related vulnerabilities. However, safety devices, such as seat belts, play a crucial role in minimizing injury severity.
Following a car accident, drivers are encouraged to document the scene, exchange insurance information, and seek medical attention even for minor injuries, as symptoms may not appear immediately. Consulting a legal professional can also help ensure fair treatment during the claims process.
