Bollinger County, MO (November 28, 2024) – A fatal collision occurred at approximately 1:20 PM on November 27 on Missouri Route 72, about 3 miles west of Patton. Emergency responders from Bollinger County quickly arrived at the scene to assist those involved in the crash. The incident involved two vehicles: a 2011 Kia Sorento and a 2002 Ford F150.
The crash was caused when the driver of the Kia Sorento, a 48-year-old female from Carbondale, IL, crossed the center line, striking the eastbound Ford F150 head-on. The Ford F150 was being driven by a 76-year-old male from Arcadia, MO. Tragically, the male driver was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:35 PM by the Bollinger County Coroner, Calvin Troxell. A 75-year-old female occupant of the Ford F150 was transported to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, where she was later pronounced dead by Dr. Martin Blake at 4:00 PM. The female driver of the Kia Sorento, who suffered serious injuries, was transported by ambulance to the same medical center.
Both vehicles sustained severe damage and were towed by Seyer’s Garage and Towing. The crash is currently under investigation by the Major Crash Investigation Unit Team #4, led by Sergeant T.G. Pulley, with Trooper D.W. Welker overseeing the investigation. The fatalities mark the 63rd and 64th traffic deaths in Troop E for 2024.
